Learn 10 Asters and Goldenrods in the Albany Pine Bush

Do you know how to distinguish a goldenrod from an aster? Are you familiar with the most common species of goldenrods and asters? You don’t have to be any kind of plant expert to participate, and sessions will be relaxed and supportive! Join Botanists Steve Young and Laura Lehtonen for a NY Flora Association walk at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve and learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to correctly identifying asters and goldenrods.

Join us for a short, inside presentation on the two species of fox that live in the Pine Bush. We will then continue outside for a 0.9 mile hike over rolling sand dunes to look for signs of foxes. This program is suitable for tweens, teens and adults.

Adults are invited to a free afternoon collage workshop with artist Mara Lefebvre. Participants will learn collage techniques and explore the fun of designing bird portraits using decorative paper and glue. We will also take a short walk in the Pine Bush Preserve.
